In October of 1979 Bishop Rene Gracida established the Saint Louis Parish and appointed Father Dave McCreanor as it's first pastor. The early masses were held at Talquin Electric until more permanent space was obtained at Capital Cinemas. The parish worshiped as a community at the movie theater for the next six years. In 1985 the present day church was built as an all-purpose building hosting both masses and all other church functions. In 1997 Father Dave was replaced by Father Paul Stewart and the parish continued to flourish. 2000 saw another change in the pastor with Father Kevin Johnson replacing Father Stewart. As Saint Louis continued to grow, it became apparant the the all-purpose building was no longer sufficient in meeting the needs of the parish community. |

In 2009 the Deacon Mack Shook parish hall was completed and provides both meeting space and classrooms for the church members. The following year the church was renovated into its present form providing a better place in which to worship. The fouth Pastor for St. Louis arrived in 2012 when Father Craig Smith replaced Father Johnson. Father Smith would be with us for five to be replaced by Father Shane Stevens in 2017. Father Shane would remain at St.Louis for three years before returning to South Dakota. The summer of 2020 brought the arrival of Fr. Alberic Lazerna to our Parish. Saint Louis Parish looks forward to the future with opportunities to grow membership, faith and service to the community. |
